SITE

Once a desolate tow lot and garage, the design revitalizes the site into a safe and welcoming location. Curb cuts are filled in, and site access is shifted to the south to improve safety and flow. Landscaping, gardens, and new outdoor dining areas are integrated into the design to enhance the overall visitor experience.

PROGRAM

The bakery’s expansion is designed to meet the growing demand for its delicious goods, addressing both customer and operational needs. The project features a new commercial kitchen equipped for high-volume production, alongside bright, welcoming indoor and outdoor dining areas. Additional enhancements include ADA-compliant restrooms, new roofing, and seismic reinforcements to ensure structural integrity. Extensive site work improves access, visibility, and parking, while new garden areas and outdoor seating create a pleasant, community-oriented atmosphere.

DESIGN

Key design elements include a covered dining area and entryway to accommodate long lines, ensuring comfort for waiting customers. The interior space retains the charm of the original structure by showcasing historic materials like exposed nail-laminated wood ceilings and original concrete floors. The exterior takes advantage of large garage door openings to highlight the new storefront.
